JOB DESCRIPTION

We're currently seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Event Assistant to join our team for a few of our upcoming events for The Great Junk Hunt. As we are expanding our events across the country, we are specifically looking for someone located in the Central or East side of the country to support our growing operations in that region.

This position would be a great opportunity for students who are majoring in hospitality or event management to gain hands-on experience in the field. Given its part-time, event-based nature, this role offers excellent flexibility, making it an ideal fit for a college student looking to balance their studies with practical industry experience. The Event Assistant will support our Event Manager and owners in various tasks, providing valuable real-world experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Event Preparation: Assisting with task coordination and pre-event setup.

  • Vendor Support & Communication: Helping with vendor check-in, addressing questions, and delivering important announcements.

  • Event Logistics + Event Layout Management: Vendor and attendee logistics.

  • On-Site Event Support: Adapting to various roles during the event, including front-of-house operations.

  • Entrance Operations: Managing the entrance area to ensure a smooth and efficient entry process for attendees.

    Key responsibilities for entrance operations include:

    • Anticipating and resolving on-site issues

    • Training new staff on scanning procedures

    • Providing scanner staff with breaks

    • Monitoring peak traffic times and offering support

    • Managing the pre-entrance line

    • Answering attendee questions

    • Regularly checking in with the Event Manager

Compensation + Schedule

Compensation: $40/hr + Travel Pay.

Schedule: The Event Assistant must be available from Thursday morning through the end of the event (Saturday Evening). This position will be required to travel to different event locations and sometimes needing to arrive the day prior (Wednesday) to begin Thursday morning. We are looking for someone who is available to work 4-8 weekends out of the year.
